The gentle path to pain relief

Introducing Omaha Chiropractor Dr. Craig Nelson

I was finishing my second year in pharmacy school when I discovered Chiropractic.  What a switch from studying how to formulate and dispense drugs to studying natural healing techniques that frequently allow patients to live without drugs.  Non-surgical, drugless chiropractic care should be everyone’s first consideration in healthcare.

Migraine headaches were troublesome for me all my life.  While I was studying in pharmacy school I met, almost by accident, a chiropractor that cured my headaches once and for all.  That doctor and that experience changed my life forever and it also changed my career choice.  I knew the medicines that were prescribed for me had side effects and they were also only minimally effective.  When functional anatomy, the spine and the nervous systems role in headache development were explained to me, I was on my way.  Treating the cause, (at the source of the problem) made a great deal more sense to me than merely treating my symptoms.  It made as much sense then as it still does today!

Following my second year of study in pharmacy I entered Northwestern College of Chiropractic in Minneapolis.  Chiropractic school was an exceptional experience.  The student/instructor ratio was phenomenal.  Everything was literally “hands on learning” and the coursework excellently prepared me for my board exams.  I interned in both Minneapolis and Cannon Falls Minnesota.  Following graduation I entered an associateship practice in Stewartville Minnesota and then private practice in Cannon Falls Minnesota before moving to OmahaOmaha.

We are all in life, more or less, a byproduct of the choices we’ve made, (where we’ve been and what we’ve done) the things that have happened to us and to some degree genetics.  Not being able to change the past but only the future requires each one of us to decide what kind of health and well-being we want in the future.  This typically requires us to be decisive and responsible…..probably requiring us to get out of our “comfort zone”!  In our offices healthcare typically requires us to make changes in, among other things, our lifestyle, habits, exercise and nutrition. Virtually everyone needs a coach and/or mentor to guide us on this journey of change for the better.  At Nelson Chiropractic Clinic this is what we do!  Healthcare in our office relies on teamwork.  Expect to get involved not only in learning but also in implementing changes that either have contributed to your health problem(s) or that will help you recover.  Expect to be part of the solution.  Our primary objective has always been to get you as independent as possible and able to enjoy life to the fullest.

I met my wife Cherie soon after moving to Omaha.  We have 3 children and recently our first grandchild.  We’re an active family that have all participated in sports and recreational activities and just really enjoy the outdoors.  We also love to travel.

Practice is particularly fun simply because I practice what I preach.  Health and learning are my hobbies.  Learning about anatomy, physiology, chemistry and nutrition early in life was a real asset.  Chiropractic care, good nutrition, exercise, a positive frame of mind and a belief in God or a Higher Power are essential to a long life.  Throw in a little common sense and practical advice alternatives and life can also be enjoyed.  I’d invite the opportunity to help you enjoy yours.

Thank you for visiting our site.  I consider myself an excellent listener and hope that I get the opportunity to meet you in person to discuss your specific health challenge(s).  Give our Omaha chiropractic office a call or email me at the link below
